Hearing Aids

Hearing Evaluation

Hearing testing is provided for all ages from infants to seniors. Our diagnostic testing determines whether the hearing loss is located in the outer, middle or inner ear. Tinnitus symptoms are also addressed with hearing evaluations. Results of testing will determine the treatment plan for the hearing loss. If necessary, the Audiologist will help determine which type of hearing aid would be suitable for the patient.

Types of Hearing Loss

There are several types of hearing loss that patients can suffer from. The most common types of hearing loss include:

  • Sensorineural hearing loss (Inner Ear): This is the most common type of hearing loss, and can occur from loud/explosive noises or the natural aging process.
  • Conductive hearing loss: Difficulty hearing low, faint sounds. This condition can be caused by ear infections, fluid in the middle ear, earwax buildup, tumors, allergies, and several other factors.
  • Central hearing loss: This is a rare type of hearing loss, and is associated with the central nervous system. Patients with central hearing loss may be able to hear fine, but are unable to understand what is being said.
  • Mixed hearing loss: This is a combination of sensorineural and conductive hearing loss.
